We continue our AMOC National journey together –

On our last day of the National we will all be heading to “The Bend” where we will be able to view the world class motoring track.

We have been given the wonderful opportunity to tour the 7.7km GT track one of the longest FIA Grade 2 permanent circuits in the world.

We will be driving 6 laps of the track at a controlled speed which will not require helmets and will not put our beautiful cars in any danger. At the end of the Tour section we will all line up on the grid for a magnificent photo of all the vehicles that have enjoyed the National.

Once we have completed the photo session, those who have chosen to stay on and do the track day will have the ability to unload their vehicles of luggage.

Those partners who are not participating in the track day may wish to take advantage of the coach provided to take them and their luggage to Monarto ahead of check-in to enjoy a drink on the veranda before preparing for the night’s festivities, with the rest of the group following on in due course.

After our fun day at “The Bend”, and maybe fitting in some local sightseeing, it is only about 40 minutes’ drive to the Monarto Safari Resort, where we will experience the thrill of the wild, combined with the comforts of world-class hospitality.

After check-in, those whose rooms face the savannah are likely to experience an amazing sunset and, as they face the Safari Park there’s every chance you will hear the lions roar in the distance, while the rooms facing the waterhole will enjoy dusk and will be first to see the sun rise.

After you settle in it’s time to walk on the wild side and “Dress to Impress with a Touch of Animal” before gathering for pre-dinner drinks overlooking the waterhole – where some animals may also enjoy a drink.  You might like to wear a touch of zebra or some leopard print shoes, or you may like to go bananas with a whole outfit – unleash your creativity and let your imagination run wild!  And there’s prizes for the best dressed!

We will then gather for a delectable dinner in the Acacia Room.  During the evening, as it is the final night of the National, we will be awarding trophies and prizes won during the event.

In the morning we will say farewell to those who are returning home, and we trust you will carry many warm memories of our time together.

Those of us who are continuing with the Post Tour have the day to do whatever takes their fancy – some may stay at the Resort to relax and recover or maybe enjoy a spa.  Others may wish to explore the Safari Park – discounted general admission cards are available from the Resort, but early booking ahead is recommended if you wish to enjoy any of the specialised activities – including the brand new multi-million-dollar elephant precinct which just opened this month for their five-elephant herd.  Visit https://www.monartosafari.com.au/animal-experiences/ to find out more. You can also book Sunset Wildlife Safaris or Dawn Wildlife Safaris within the Resort itself at https://monartosafariresort.com/experiences/ while others may wish to venture further around the Murray Bridge area – refer https://southaustralia.com/destinations/murray-river-lakes-and-coorong/places/murray-bridge for more details.

Dinner that evening will be a casual affair at the Resort.

As we continue our AMOC National journey together –

After our Sunday Observation Run to Lake Breeze, Monday will have a more relaxed start before boarding our bus to “Our Place” at the top of Willunga Hill where Andy has a treat in store for us!  With Northern Italian influence, our menu will be planned in true Italian style, with local produce and seasonal happenings made with passion. We will feast on a range of unique dishes, with a finale of delicious freshly filled cannoli – all while enjoying stunning views over the vineyards and beyond.   After such a wonderful lunch it is imagined we will not be needing much further sustenance so, after our bus delivers you home around 6.00pm, your time is your own.

On Tuesday we bid an early farewell to Victor Harbor and head to The Bend, inspired by some of the world’s iconic race circuits.  At 7.7km in its maximum configuration, The Bend combines technical corners, fast flowing sections and an aggregate rise and fall of 85m to ensure exciting racing and an enjoyable drive.

Even if you are not participating in the track event we hope you will all take advantage of the more relaxed drive around the 7.77km course. (4 laps) It is the second longest full-time race track in the world and to participate in the controlled drive will give you bragging rights amongst your friends. There will be no requirements for helmets in the speed controlled laps.

Once completed the venue offers a restaurant/cafe overlooking the track and there is a display in the foyer of some of the most expensive cars available in the market today.

While the motorsport entrants go through their paces there will be an array of interesting locations to visit within close proximity while we wait for our rooms at Monarto Safari Resort to become available, or you could check in early and leave your bags at reception while you have a coffee or glass of something on the deck overlooking the waterhole.

Further information will be provided in the road book.

Following The Bend we will head to Monarto Safari Resort and check in ahead of our exciting finale dinner.

Some information on our exciting finale night in the next bulletin…..

We begin our event with four nights in Victor Harbor, one of SA’s premier holiday destinations on the southern coast of the glorious Fleurieu Peninsula, just over an hour south of Adelaide.  Autumn weather in April and May is generally mild to cool with highs around 17-20C and lows around 13-15C.  It is generally calm but can be a little breezy – layers are recommended!

We will be staying at the McCracken Resort, overlooking the championship McCracken Golf Course.  After checking in on Friday our friendly members will be there for you to register your arrival.  We will then meet for welcome drinks followed by dinner at the Resort.

Saturday is our traditional Concours which will take place on the waterfront lawns of Warland Reserve in the Victor Harbor Township, allowing the public to wander and enjoy our collection of Astons.  Members can take advantage of the location as it is within a short distance to many local attractions to enjoy while the cars are being judged.

Victor Harbor on Encounter Bay isn’t just a beautiful tourist destination, it is steeped in rich cultural history dating back to the time of the local native indigenous tribes and intertwined with the arrival of European settlers in the 19th century.  It will charm you with its relaxed and friendly vibe, good pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as colonial architectural gems, natural beauty and wildlife.

To give you flexibility, we’ve put together a selection of optional activities and local suggestions for your free time – sightseeing, casual eating, relaxed social gatherings, walks and scenic drives.  Join in where you like or simply enjoy the destination your own way.  The free time is yours to make the most of.

Dinner that evening will be at “Salt at the Elliot” Restaurant Port Elliot. (at own cost à la carte)

Sunday is the chance to stretch the legs of our magnificent machines as we head off on an Observation Run, travelling through the Fleurieu Peninsula and ending at Lake Breeze Wines for a long lazy lunch in the Barrel Room.  Of the 18 distinct wine regions in SA, Langhorne Creek is the best kept secret, and Lake Breeze is beautifully situated among red gums and vineyards which will look magnificent in Autumn. The Follett family have been growing grapes here for 130 years, with many trophies in their cabinet, so we can explore the wines they have to offer.

More about our journey together in the next edition. If you have any questions in the meantime please don’t hesitate to contact us.
